Melody Cocon, RITC for Region 13 (center, in blue), opens the training with a presentation about the digital literacy campaign The Community eCenter of Socorro has been one of the more active and supportive CeCs of the PhilCeC Program. It was one of the top five (5) finalists in Best CeC Category during the 7thKnowledge Exchange Conference on CeC (KEC7) in Baguio City. Ms. Zenith D. Rivas, CeC Manager, was also one of the top 100 Telecentre Women Globally. So, why not have the 1st roll-out of PDLWC for Caraga in one of the best CeCs in the region? The CeC Managers’ Meeting cum Philippine Digital Literacy for Women Campaign Training of Trainers was successfully conducted from April 17-20, 2012 at the SB Session Hall of LGU Socorro, Surigao Del Norte. This activity, spearheaded by the PhilCeC Program, the Socorro CeC and the Pilar CeC, was attended by 12 participants from the following offices: FITS Hinatuan, OPAG FITS, General Luna CeC, Carrascal CeC, Bacuag CeC, DOTC-CICT Barobo CeC, FITS SNCAT, OWWA TULAY CTLC, Del Carmen CeC, FITS San Agustin, FITS RTR. The participants, composed mostly of CeC managers, often let their staff do the simple data processing jobs. In the training, they learned to appreciate the simple things such as encoding and manipulating the data as they would like them to be. It was like being on their first day in computer class. |

It was the fourth day of the training. The participants of the Essentials of CeC Management Training, held from April 23-27 at the Development Academy of the Philippines, woke up earlier than usual to beat the 7:30 AM assembly time for the visit to the Malvar Community eCenter, where Malvar CeC manager Linda Balbuena delivered a candid presentation on how their CeC started and what they had accomplished so far. After her presentation, she introduced shy and diminutive 21-year-old Jaycel Tagle, who gave her testimony on the impact of the CeC on local community member: "Magandang umaga po sa inyong lahat. |
