With the commitment of the Municipality of Tanauan to the i-Pinay program, training in badge making and basic computer trouble shooting were recently conducted.

The series of training were participated by 47 students from Tanauan School of Craftsmanship and Home Industries and Palo National High School. There were four batches for the badge making training that were conducted last April 18 – 19, April 23 – 24, April 25 – 26 and May 2 – 3, respectively. Also, one batch for the Basic Computer Troubleshooting was conducted last May 16-17.

For the badge making alone, a graphics editing software was used to design the badge templates.  Mr. Graciano Arzaga, the instructor, taught the students on the basic operations such as layering, masking, blending and inserting text  which helped the students come up with their own personalized designs for the badges.

Acquiring knowledge through education is one of the key factors to which a person may achieve his goals and dreams in life. Every person aims to acquire a certain degree of education no matter how young or old he may be.

The job of being a CeC Manager is tough since you are teaching different kinds of people: housewives, bystanders, out of school youth, senior citizens, differently abled persons, and others.

At the time, I had to pamper myself with the thought that we were empowering a lot of our women by teaching them basic computer literacy. Otherwise, I had doubts. Where will this bring me?

It was in this frame of mind that I chanced upon Telecenter.org's blog about "Train the Most Women to Become Digitally Literate and win 15,000 Swiss Francs worth of ICT Equipment!" I studied their timelines and figured that if we could complete the training in our 15 barangays on top of the ongoing training in our CeC office, we actually just might make it.
