It is the deep desire of eDasol, the Community eCenter of Dasol, Pangasinan, to maximize basic computer training to everyone signifying interest in learning basic computer operation and be updated on ICT trends. This is why the center has prioritized the conduct of digital literacy training and schedules for the community, specifically for grassroots women. The first quarter of 2013, the center focused on training of barangay health workers (BHW), LGU employees (SB members, PNP ladies and department heads) and women. One participant who completed 80 hours of computer training was later hired as one of eDasol's knowledge worker/trainer. To accommodate all participants, the center has come up with workable schedules - two training sessions are given to LGU employees (11:00 am - 1:00 pm and 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm), taking into consideration their office workload. Training for the community, on the other hand, is from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm daily. This summer, elementary teachers are on deck for the next batches of training. |

The Philippine Community eCenter Program has flourished since it was established in 2006. From 755 established Community eCenters in 2007, the number has burgeoned to more than 1,400 CeCs nationwide. And now, the Program takes the next big step towards validating and acknowledging the efforts of CeCs and CeC knowledge workers with the introduction of the Philippine CeC Standards and Certification Protocol for the Accreditation of Community eCenters. These accreditation protocols seek to meet the needs of Community eCenters for recognition and advancement to ensure their responsiveness, efficiency, value and sustainability. There are five levels of accreditation: Emerging, Functional, Enhanced, Transformational, and Hall of Fame. Except for the Emerging level, entitlements and a certificate will be accorded to Community eCenters duly accredited. |
