The challenge is set for the telecenter initiative.
telecentre.org, in its bid to develop continuous learning programs for its stakeholders manning telecenter-driven initiatives and opportunities, will be spearheading the Global Curriculum Workshop on June 2-5 at the International Development Research Centre in Singapore.
The workshop will gather subject-matter experts on the telecenter movement from around the world in an effort to create a standardized e-learning system curriculum for telecenter management. |

Helping farmers the Luna CeC way

 Luna CeC has devoted 2 PCs for farmers' use The Municipality of Luna, situated in the northern part of Luzon, is one of the seven towns of the Province of Apayao in the Cordillera Administrative Region. Agriculture is the major source of income and livelihood of people where a great percentage of its total land area is devoted to agricultural production. Land, therefore, is considered one of our most treasured resources. It means life, entails survival, and defines the destinies of our children. The Luna Community eCenter, now on its almost four years of operation, has proven its worth and significance time and again to various sectors of the community, most especially the students, employees, businessmen and overseas workers and their families. Having just implemented its Barangay ICT Program wherein the barangay officials had undergone Computer Literacy Training at the eCenter, which aimed to enhance effectiveness of these officials through ICT in barangay governance and administration, the eCenter has launched a new program - the establishment of the Farmers’ Assistance Corner (FAC). |

PhilCeCNet holds roundtable on content and eGovt services for CeCs

The Philippine Communtiy eCenter Network (PhilCeCNet) held a roundtable on content and eGovernment services for CeCs last May 6 at the Commission on ICT Building in Diliman, Quezon City.
The activity was organized to discuss opportunities by which content and eGovernment services can be made accessible at the CeC. This is in support of the goal of ensuring the delivery of relevant content to CeCs, which is detailed in the Philippine CeC Roadmap for 2008-2010.
Intended for content and eGovernment service providers, the roundtable was participated in by eight representatives from six national government agencies namely the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR), Social Security System (SSS), Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA), Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), and Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth). |
