To guide graduating high school students in choosing the right career particularly on relevant job market trends and their corresponding competencies, the Youth Profiling for Starring Careers (YP4SC) was administered to students in the Municipality of Siay at the Siay Community eCenter.
The said synchronized career guidance program, intended to assess the aptitudes and interests of high school students, was created under the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) in cooperation with the Profiles Asia Pacific and the Department of Education. * The YP4SC program aims to develop a career guidance program that covers the following: aptitude and occupational interest assessment, labor market information, education and training information, career profiling, and career guidance and counseling. |

The January-March 2009 issue of the Telecentre Magazine, the quarterly publication of telecentre.org and the Centre for Science, Development and Media Studies (CSDMS) , a non-government organization in India committed to advocacy and developing knowledge solutions for under-privileged societies through the use of innovative and effective Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs), is now out.
The latest issue examines the role of public access to technology. It features articles about telecentres bringing hope to persons with disabilities, networking the Latin American telecentre movement, enhancing employability through e-skills, developing an online community at telecentre.org, and bridging divides, increasing access and empowering communities, among others. It also tackles the debate on telecentres as effective tools for financial inclusion.
The Grassroots Story section talks about turning information into learning and about enabling channels of access.
Under 1000 Ideas to Make Telecentres Work, the latest issue presents telecentres as play schools and as a medium for the preservation of culture, harmony and peace.
Meanwhile, this issue’s country focus is about UK Online Centres creating confident citizens.

The deadline for submission of entries to the telecentre.org Blog Contest is extended until May 31, 2009.
telecentre.org, which is a global community of people and organizations committed to increasing the social and economic impact of grassroots telecentres (locally branded as "Community eCenters"), is staging the contest in a desire to give due recognition to active and deserving bloggers as well as to encourage and inspire the rest of the community to share their telecenter-related stories and post blogs at the website.
