Participants of the APC-sponsored Digital Story Telling Workshop pose for posterity in Bali, Indonesia The Philippines, one of the adaptors identified for the Gender Evaluation Methodology (GEM), participated in the recently concluded Digital Story Telling Workshop on November 24-27 in Bali, Indonesia. The story telling workshop is one of the two global exchanges spearheaded by the Association of Progressive Communication (APC) as it aims to provide a means for determining whether ICTs are really improving women's lives and gender relations as well as promoting positive change at the individual, institutional, community and broader social levels. For the workshop, each individual participant needed to produce their own digital story, highlighting the experiences, reaction and reflections of the people who participated in the Adaptation of the Gender Evaluation Methodology, under three main groupings: telecenter adaptors, Rural Women adaptors and eGovernance adaptors. Here are two of the produced movies from the said workshop: Gender and eGovernance and Gender and ICT. |

"Above all, Cita has become recognized by her peers as a leader, which shows that the ability of women in farming must never be underestimated. Despite the agro-ecological condition of her farm, she was able to transform it to a veritable farm that easily serves as a model in increasing the productivity of farms in adverse environments."
I came across this quote after reading an interesting success story from the website of one of our partners, the Open Academy for Philippine Agriculture (OpAPA). One of the benefits of the Internet is the efficient and effective way of broadcasting your message to a vast number of people, in the simplest way possible. The Internet has an enormous amount of publications added on it every day and it’s becoming one of our most powerful sources of information. This article from the OpAPA website is entitled "This Lady is a Progressive Farmer" . I hope this lady's story will encourage you to find ways to improve your livelihood. |

Guidebook for Managing Telecentre Networks: Engineering a New Phase of the Telecentre Movement telecentre.org , one of the major partners of the Philippine Community eCenter Network (PhilCeCNet), has initiated the development of a guidebook for managing telecentre networks. It is now available as a wikibook .
“A Guidebook for Managing Telecentre Networks: Engineering a New Phase of the Telecentre Movement” is actually a collaborative project of the telecentre.org community. In the course of its development, telecentre.org consulted network leaders from the different regions, soliciting input particularly in terms of experiences in setting up and effectively managing telecentre networks.
PhilCeCNet, through its Executive Secretary and Philippine CeC Program Head Maria Teresa Camba, took an active part and made an important contribution to the development of the guidebook specifically in Chapter 2: Telecentre Network Governance – Setting the Playing Field for a Network Culture. In this particular chapter, PhilCeCNet is used as a case study. |
