eSkwela gets UNESCO Certificate of Commendation

The Commission on Information and Communication Technology's (CICT) eSkwela Project received a Certificate of Commendation at the 2007-2008 UNESCO ICT in Education Innovation Awards .

The UNESCO commendation is one of several awards given to initiatives and projects that make use of information and communications technology in education. eSkwela was among those recognized under the non-formal educator category.

eSkwela is a Community eCenter-related initiative envisioned to empower out-of-school youth and adults to be globally competitive through the effective use of ICT in alternative learning. With eSkwela's ICT-enabled environment, Filipino out-of-school youths and adults can attain basic education competence and life skills.

Search for 1st TGP awardees begins

The search is on for the best information and technology services providers nationwide.

As part of the upcoming National Techno Gabay Summit on July 9-10, PCARRD will hold the first Techno Gabay Program (TGP) Award for centers and individuals that have contributed in realizing the goals of the program.

The awards will recognize and honor individuals and institutions for their outstanding contribution to the modernization of the agriculture, forestry, and natural resources  (AFNR) sectors. Through the award, PCARRD can also show its appreciation for the support and commitment of program implementers towards the sustainability and institutionalization of TGP.

There would be two award categories: the Best Farmer’s Information and Technology Services (FITS) Center and the Outstanding Magsasaka-Siyentista (MS) awards.
