![]() National Competency Standards for CeC Knowledge Workers The telecentre.org-Philippine Community eCenter Acdemy (tPCA) has finally released the National Competency Standards for CeC Knowledge Workers (NCS-CeC), a comprehensive document that defines the fundamental set of knowledge and skills that CeC managers and support staff should be able to demonstrate to assist and empower urban and rural communities to utilize information and communication technologies (ICT) for their access to basic social services and economic activities. The NCS-CeC also serves as the basis for the development of courses to be offered by the tPCA (the capability building arm of PhilCeCNet), the accreditation of course partners and the certification of CeC knowledge workers, among others. It is a product of several consultation processes, focused group discussions and workshops, with CeC mangers and experts from the Development Academy of the Philippines, University of the Philippines - Open University, Asian Institute of Journalism and Communication, Molave Development Foundation, Inc., Philippine Rice Research Institute, Technical Education and Skills Development Authority, and the Commission on ICT – National Computer Center providing valuable input. The NCS-CeC was approved by the tPCA partners in December 2008. In a related development, PhilCeCNet Executive Secretary Tess Camba disclosed that the curriculum for CeC managers training has already been developed and approved by the Academy Board. Four courses for CeC management are currently being developed and will be made available online this year. Download a copy of the NCS-CeC
