![]() Senior citizens give the computers a try. The Community eCenter (CeC) in Zamboanga City has been standing sturdy for years. People from all walks of life drop by at the kiosk located at the 2nd floor of the National Computer Center - Field Operations Office to do their thing and be connected to the world for free. It's 2009 and most probably almost everyone in the city already know how to surf the Internet, but surprisingly, there are still many who are wet behind the ears. ![]() Two generations (young ones and young once) attend same training In other parts of the city, four indigent students in a public high school divulged their ignorance as well in emailing when they were asked to email their life story since there were philanthropists from abroad who wanted to help poor kids in the city. The text message sent by one sophomore student says, "Ma'am, I have to wait for my older brother to bring me to an Internet cafe and to teach me how to email." ![]() Rod Macansantos of NCC-FOO assisting the trainees. On April 15, 2009, the door to IT opened to seven young ones (high school students) and to four "once young" (senior citizens) who were grateful to the CeC of NCC-FOO for providing such free training to people like them. It was a heartwarming scenario witnessing two different generations so interested to learn about Internet that day especially when the "young once" hollered, "Yes! I managed to save my work." |
