“Pinabacdao is a small town with big dreams,” says Municipal Mayor Hon. Mario Quijano, Jr. With the establishment of its Community eCenter (CeC), another big dream will soon be fulfilled.
The National Computer Center conducted an orientation last December 10, 2009 to ten composite members of the CeC core group who come from various sectors such as the academe, national government agencies (NGAs), and local leaders in politics.
Mrs. Imelda M. Fabilane, Municipal Administrator Designate, was delighted to know about the benefits of having a CeC. She recounted her problem in accessing the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) website since she has to travel for more than an hour to Tacloban City or Catbalogan City in Samar just to be able to access the website for inquiries on the approval of loan applications of municipal employees.
With the establishment of the CeC, access to the site for inquiries and transactions relating to the mentioned applications would then take her just a minute or two, without the hassle of having to travel to nearby cities, which she finds too time-consuming.
Meanwhile, Mrs. Ma. Rosario L. Achazo, Public Employment Service Office (PESO) Manager, believes that the town of Pinabacdao is ready for another milestone in their community’s history. With the advent of affordable Internet access just within their reach, residents in the locality will now be able to avail of vast opportunities as well as access a wide array of useful information made available via the Internet. The core group, as a whole, was very appreciative of the learning they derived during the conduct of the orientation. Armed with inspiration, they took to heart the commitment to bridge the digital divide, and bring the people of Pinabacdao to a new era of connectivity and to a vista of endless possibilities through the Internet. |
