The Convergence 2009 ICT Roadshow made its final stop in Iloilo City on November 25-26 at the Sarabia Manor Hotel and Convention Center, the last of the ten nationwide roadshow legs. This event was headed by the Commission on Information and Communications Technology (CICT), in partnership with the Business Processing Association of the Philippines (BPA/P), the Coordinating Council of Private Educational Associations (COCOPEA) and Iloilo Federation for Information and Technology (IFIT).

The roadshow featured track sessions from different CICT initiatives such as Cyber Services, eGovernment, DEVCON and related IT-BPO discussion forums from key players in the industry.

The key highlight of the eGov track was the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) of the CeC beneficiaries for Region 6.  Mayor Gene T. Fuentes of Tangalan, Aklan and Mayor James Excelsior M. Torres of Tigbauan, Iloilo were present during the MOU signing. Also present were CICT Chair Ray Anthony Roxas-Chua III and Commissioner Monchito Ibrahim, and IFIT Acting Chair Jessraf S. Palmares, who presented the ICT updates for lloilo City.

The event also showcased the gathering of the minds through different career talks from selected BPO and IT groups that brought together all the software engineers, developers, programmers, students and company owners to infuse camaraderie and to have a good exchange of ideas and new technologies.

Iloilo is the 3rd Next Wave City in the Philippines and is in the list of the thirty-one cities with outsourcing potentials worldwide.  It is also in the list of Business Week New Outsourcing Hot Spots and, according to Money Sense Magazine, is one of the best places to live in the Philippines because of its strategic location, top schools and natural wonders.
