The City Government of Bislig enthusiastically responded to the CICT circular enjoining all government offices to celebrate the National ICT month with the conduct of two ICT-related training workshops - the Basic Computer Operation and Internet Browsing Seminar Workshop and the Digital Photography and Photo Editing Seminar Workshop, on June 19 and June 22-24, respectively. The workshops were facilitated by Bislig's own Information Technology Division, led by Mr. Christopher P. Jabagat and Mr. Aristotle Lloyd M. Cariaso.
The Basic Computer Operation and Internet Browsing Seminar Workshop was a whole day activity which was attended by sixteen participants from different offices, composed mostly by utility workers. Participants were taught the basics of computing and Internet browsing through multi-media lectures and hands-on activities.
On the other hand, twenty participants from the local government unit, the Department of Education DepEd ICT unit and the Bislig Water District, students and representatives from the business sector attended the three-day Digital Photography and Photo Editing training. For this activity, participants were introduced to the versatility of Photoshop CS3, the software most commonly used for photo editing. The activity also encouraged the participants to enhance their creativity skills in editing of the photo they took individually.
National Computer Center-Field Operations Office IT Coordinator for Region XIII Melody Cocon expressed her appreciation for Bislig's full support for the National ICT month celebration. "I’d like to thank LGU Bislig for participating successfully in the National ICT Month activity, especially to the two IT staff, Mr. Jabagat & Mr. Cariaso, for imparting their knowledge to these participants," enthused Ms. Cocon. "By this initiative, bringing in the IT trainings to the people of Bislig gives a clearer picture that the government reaches out to the citizens needs in the field of ICT. Kudos to LGU Bislig!"
