Following its announcement in April this year of the termination of its free services, Ning, one of the leading social networking platforms, officially launched its new subscription plans last July 20. A one-month grace period is given to all network creators for them to either subscribe to one of the paid plans or move out of Ning completely.

With this development, a lot of established Ning networks are affected, including our very own PhilCeCNet Online Community and Makato CeC . For those affected networks that do not have sufficient resources to pay for premium online services, this is definitely not the end of the road for there are several alternative solutions out there. Check out this blog entitled Ning Alternatives for Telecentre Networks.
